Mercer Tech Med stands ready to deliver turnkey solutions—civil works, fit-out, equipment supply, logistics, and full technical support—for both permanent and mobile blood-bank installations, as well as large hospital facilities.

Mercer Tech Med’s proposed blood‐bank solutions will transform access to safe blood across Kenya—delivering life‐saving services where they are needed most. By deploying a mobile unit (KES 100 M/USD 0.77 M), a mid-sized permanent facility (KES 498 M/USD 3.86 M), and a large-scale centre (KES 968 M/USD 7.49 M), we can ensure timely, high-quality transfusions, reduce mortality from emergencies, and build resilient community health infrastructure. Each tier adheres to WHO blood-service guidelines and AABB quality standards, integrates solar-backed power and cold-chain management, and leverages digital donor engagement to maximize impact.

Health Outcomes

Every two seconds, someone needs blood for surgery, cancer care, or trauma treatment Red Cross Blood. By bringing collection and processing closer to patients, our mobile unit boosts donor turnout—Saudi Arabia saw a 43% increase in supply during mobile drives amid COVID-19 . A nearby mid-sized centre ensures rural hospitals avoid “blood deserts,” like Turkana’s, where 75% of cases go unmet. And a large-scale regional hub supports complex therapies—platelet transfusions, apheresis—meeting AABB component-preparation standards.

Community & Operational Benefits

  • Rapid Response: Mobile units deploy within hours to disasters or remote clinics, offering point-of-care phlebotomy and serology testing (HIV, hepatitis) on-site .

  • Donor Satisfaction & Retention: Studies show that empathy, clear communication, and comfortable environments drive repeat donations equally in mobile and fixed sites .

  • Digital Engagement: A blood-donation app can streamline appointment scheduling and reminders—centers using apps report higher donor return rates and data accuracy .

  • Education & Trust: On-site training rooms foster community health‐education, raising awareness of blood types and eligibility—critical when only 3% of eligible adults donate annually.

Economic & Sustainability Impact

  • Cost Recovery: While donations are free, processing (testing, labeling, storage) incurs real costs—our transparent fee model aligns with AABB guidelines, ensuring financial viability.

  • Green Power: Solar-assisted HVAC and UPS backups reduce diesel use by up to 60%, cutting long-term operating expenses and carbon footprint.

  • Scalability: The modular design allows each new centre or mobile unit to be replicated nationwide, leveraging economies of scale in procurement and training.
